The nonprofit-focused institution Candid and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy released a report March 3, 2021 illustrating the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on nonprofits. Yet even further, the report includes reminders about the invaluable role played by philanthropy in healthy, thriving non-profits.

In the midst of the pandemic’s on-going effects on many non-profits, we would be wise to remember that not all non-profits are affected by the pandemic and its tentacles in the same way. The effects of the pandemic may cause increased need or demand of services at some organizations, or may decimate earned revenue streams at others; or the pandemic may bring about double, triple or quadruple growth in the donor base, which then necessitates re-imaging development practices to retain some portion of those donors for on-going support.
Be sure to catch the new report, and you may wish to keep at least one eye turned toward the evolving role of philanthropy in the coming months. As Deepak Chopra said, “All great changes are preceded by chaos.” Whether nonprofit volunteers, staff, donors or champions, we will serve the social fabric of our communities by growing our development practices to meet today’s needs and those yet to come…especially in the midst of turbulent times.
By the way, if you’re not familiar with the Candid organization as of yet, you can read more about Candid on their website. Candid is the merger from 2019 of Guidestar and Foundation Center.
